Foundations update

Two weeks ago the foundation formwork (shuttering etc) was completed and one week ago the concrete finally poured. After a 6 day wait we were told we could start taking down the formwork. This is a job usually done by the construction workers but I had opted to do it myself both for the experience and to reduce costs. It’s hard work as all the scaffolding and wooden shutters have to be taken down and piled up ready for collection.

From UK and living in Japan. I am very interested in sustainable development and in general ecology and conservation issues and solutions. Finished building a low impact family house in Shiga, Japan in 2013 and am now focused on using permaculture to develop our plot of land into a more sustainable, productive, and attractive space. My hope is that this blog is useful to those interested in similar issues and way of life.
