Christmas move and update

Christmas eve we were able to move in to the house. Many things still to finish, but it passed the official inspection and is now habitable. My hope is that as the building phase comes to a close I will have more time to catch up with this blog. Pritority topics will be:

  • problems we have had, and associated solutions or compromises made
  • the things which we can now do which had to be delayed until after the inspection (installing the compost toilet, greywater recycling).
  • details on how well the various features of the house are working – solar, insulation, heating system etc.

With regards the final item, below are two tables. The first is a quick summary of the key features (added in an earlier blog) and the second, showing notes on how each feature is progressing.

About ifd66

From UK and living in Japan. I am very interested in sustainable development and in general ecology and conservation issues and solutions. Finished building a low impact family house in Shiga, Japan in 2013 and am now focused on using permaculture to develop our plot of land into a more sustainable, productive, and attractive space. My hope is that this blog is useful to those interested in similar issues and way of life.
